All Types of Music Inglemoor s instrumentalists enjoyed another year of excellent music in 79. More than 200 students were involved in the five groups: Orches- tra. Stage Band. Jazz Ensemble. Concert Bank and Symphonic Band. Orchestra gave its listeners the usual good quality music as they played in the musical Guys and Dolls” in the fall. For the rest of the year they were kept busy by many performances. Stage Band is a relatively new group to Inglemoor. consisting of talented students who are all contributing to the “Jazz Sound.” Jazz Ensemble once again made us tap our toes as it played jazz style music with an excep- tional flair. They played in concerts and contests, this year; keeping very active. Concert Band and Symphonic Band kept occupied by forming pep bands, playing at con- tests and performing at various concerts. Vocal Department Notes The vocal end of the music department spent a busy year preparing for various performances and contests. The department consists of the Concert Choir, Swing Choir and Chorale; all very fine groups. The perform- ances consisted of the annual Fall, Christmas and Spring concerts along with the Concert Choir’s trip to Issaquah H.S. and the KingCo choir contest. The Swing Choir was busy performing for organizations around the community as well as jazz festivals and contests with and against other schools in the KingCo area. Out-of-school activities included the “Turn Over a New Leaf’ party, which promoted choir pride and school spirit. There were several notable achievements in the vocal department this year. Scott Abbott, Scott Carson. Steve Jones and Anne Hedstrom were very happy to be accepted to the All-Northwest Choir in Billings, Montana. Choir officers this year included: Pres. Steve Jones, Vice-Pres. Shawn Gary, Sec. Ann Roetcisoender, Enforcer Promotion Anna Ralston, Senior Rep. Sally Snaring, Junior Rep. Chris Douglas and Sophomore Rep. Joe Friend. Director Don Hedstrom put the emphasis on reaching the Choir’s full potential. Although not all goals may have been reached, it was an enjoyable and exciting year for both the performing members and the audiences that heard them perform.
