Out With the Old . . . New uniforms accentuated the appearance of the more than 120 Viks, who were proud to march in with a new look. The uniforms were the result of hard work by students, teachers and parents. This work en- tailed selling cheese and sausage, sell- ing raffle tickets and participating in the joga-thon. Private donations were also helpful in raising the needed amount. The new uniforms, which can be used for the guys’ concert uniforms as well as for marching, consists of wool pants, a concert jacket and a white and gold overlay. Gold trim accentuated these outfits. Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these hardy Viks from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” However, the new look wasn’t al- ways the dry look for the sturdy Viks. The band was forced to face the elements each time they marched. The mud. the rain, the wind and that fantas- tic smell all contributed to the enthusi- asm of our Viking band. The marching band encouraged pep at 7 games, performing exciting halftime shows at 4 of these. (They were rained out once). All in all. these Vikings enjoyed a very exciting year. 1.
