Little 500 Practice at Indianapolis 500 Speedway-1951 It's hard to say how much refreshments we'll need for the race since it's a new event, seemed to be one ofthe major concems about that first Little 500 race in 1951. But despite such crucial problems, all went smoothly on the premiere of The World's Greatest College Weekend. The South Hall Buccaneers chalked up a 2 hour 38 second victory and were given congratulatory kisses by none other than Loretta Young and Barbara Stanwick fOh, swoonll. From that time on, the 500 has been growing taster than the trailing Arbutus. In 1955 the iirst Mini Race was observed and Kappa Kappa Gamma, gaily decked out in their sailor suits, were victorious in an old lieldhouse which was captivatingly decorated in a c'iartreuse and black space decor. Honest to goodness cashmere sweaters were awarded the winners. From these comparatively modest beginnings, the 1967 Little 500 developed into the wild weekend that you'll see in the next seven pages.
