His follow- ers were the underclassrnen who will be graduated in 1960 and even as far away as 1964. The following pages, therefore, are de- voted to the underclassmen who, in their own distinct ways, have supported their Alma Mater. On these pages you will see some of the many and varied activities carried on by these underclassmen. We, the Class of 1959, wish success to all of the future graduating classes which will be getting their start or adding to their stature next terrn. When you become the leaders instead of the followers, may you lead your underclassmen on to higher goals. NY w UNDERCLASSMEN nl- mf , my rf '3- A. '? The game proved interesting the first half with both teams scoring thirteen points, but in the second half the Braves managed to score two more times and hold Leechburg throughout the second half. North Cambria With another home game occurring on Sep- tember l9th the Braves overcame the North Cam- bria Colts by a score of 21-6. In this encounter, the Little Indians showed more effort exerted on the defense than on the offense by holding the Colts to a number of four downs which were ac- companied by punts two cf which were blocked by Indiana and scored upon. Laura Lamar On September 26th, the Little Indians com- peted against neighboring Laura Lamar in a home contest which ended up in favor of Indiana 26-O. Due to a little rain, the Braves stayed to the ground and with outstanding maneuvers on the offense, penetrated through Laura Lamar territory allowing each backfield man to score a touchdown. Derry Area The Braves next met Derry Area in an away game on October 3rd. This was supposed to be Indiana's first real test for the season but with spirit and determination, the Little Indians de- feated Derry, 20-6. Indiana, using an aerial at- tack, completed a pass up the middle for thirty- six yards, in one of the first plays from the line of scrimmage. Punxsutawney The team traveled to Punxsutawney on October lOth and defeated the Chucks I3-2. During the game, both teams advanced into each other's territory with Punxsutawney showing much opposition in holding Indiana to only two touchdowns and in blocking a punt which caught the Braves in the end zone and credited the Chucks with a safety. Blairsville With Blairsville at Indiana, on October 'l7th, the Little Indians encountered their second real test cf the year and with the help of a muddy field, romped over the Bobcats 22-O. The Braves managed to hold the opponents, who iust couIdn't seem to get started on the offense. Westmont Indiana traveled to Westmont on October 25th and downed the Hilltoppers 26-'l4. Due to the game being played on Saturday afternoon, both teams were low in spirit. Nevertheless, the Braves took charge of all of the scoring through- out the first three quarters. In the fourth quarter, Westmont scored twice, with the Indiana re- serves now in the game. Central Cambria The Braves took to the air in defeating the Red Devils 26-2, on October 3'Ist in a home con- test. lndiana's quarterback completed four-out- of-five passes. This was the Braves eighteenth win at home and twenty third straight win for a three year record. Windber Indiana made the trip to Windber on Satur- day November 8th, and were the victims of their first setback for the season. There was much rain in Windber that night and the Ramblers held the Braves scoreless O-25. This team being the most talked about during the year was de- feated by Indiana last season I4-6 which was the biggest upset of the 1957 campaign. These are our clubs. They are the background for social and service proiects within the school, and they play a strategic part in the lite of every student. There are many clubs throughout the school, each suited to a specific need or in- terest of an individual. Many worthwhile projects could not be realized were it not for the club plan, which helps to make the potentialities of IJHS more pleasant and useful. X f ACTIVITIES 45 g. An 41.
