Student Publications Many students do not realize the terrific activity that surrounds the creation of Ijlndian and the High Arrow behind the door of 103. These sixteen budding journalists under the guid- ance of Mr. Lambert joseph have the responsibil- ity ot reilecting the life of I. H. for students and parents. Projectionists Club The Projectionist Club is a service club com- posed of senior high boys who are interested in learning how to operate and repair the many kind of different projectors and other similar machines. The boys took turns helping to run the various machines when needed. Mr. james McKelvey is the sponsor. Camera Club The Camera Club is undoubtedly one of the hardest working clubs at I. H. The sixteen members of the club not only take care of all the yearbook photography but also do much for the local newspaper. The club also enters samples of its work in the Scholastic Awards Contest held each year. Repair and Maintenance The Repair and Maintenance Club, a service club composed of boys interested in making their school a better one in which to live, is sponsored by Mr. Elwood Banks. The boys repair all types of building equipment and assist in various other ways. The club president is Bill Frech. National Honor Society The aim of the National Honor Society, under the sponsorship of Mrs. Mary McGregor, is to establish character, service, leadership, and scholarship in the students of I. H. S. During the year the club took in new members who have reached these qualities. The president was Bob Pierce. Cafeteria Management ll members were enrolled in the Cafeteria Management Club. The objective of the organi- l Zation was to create co-operation and under- l standing among the girls in the club. During the year. the girls took a trip to a large commercial cafeteria to observe operations. The club spon- sor was Mrs. Helen Campbell. lunior Historians Under the sponsorship of Xliss Ferne Nic- Henry. the -lunior Historians set as their objec- tives the preservation of county and local history. The club. with a membership of twenty. took many field trips during the year. They also heard manv illustrated discussions on historical events. Key Club The Key Club, under the sponsorship of Mr. Elwood Sheeder, strived to develop leadership, to serve the school and community, and to make better citizens. The club was organized this year and had a membership of twenty-five bovs. The boys sponsored a pancake supper and helped the Salvation Army. Distributive Education Club The Distributive Education Club was quite busy this year. Besides the various trips they took, they also held several parties throughout the year. The girls took turns staying in the nurses room during each period. The club president was Kitty Cardamone. Iunior Broadcasters The thirty six members of the junior Broad- casting Club are taught the fundamentals of radio broadcasting by Mrs. Victoria XVadas, club sponsor, and are prepared for membership in the Senior Broadcasting Club. The club has spon- sored a dance and an assembly with another junior high club, plus several broadcasts. Senior Broadcasters One of the most active clubs in school is Mrs. Victoria NVadas, Senior Broadcasting Club. Its members get experience in radio broadcasting through the public address system and weekly broadcasts over WDAD. Club projects were the St. Patrickis Day Dance. trip to Pittsburgh, and entertaining local clubs. Shakespearian Club The Shakespearian Club, under the sponsor- ship of Nlrs. Mary NIcCregor, studied the life of XVilliam Shakespear and his works. Throughout the year the club made a scrapbook on Shakes- pear, studied Othello,,7 and had a candy sale to raise funds. The club has a membership of forty- three. Future Homemakers of America The Future Hoineinakers of America Club is under the sponsorship of Bliss Alice Clements. Mr. Elwood Sheederls junior Hi-Y Club follows in this tradition by leading devotional assemblies and other tasks. There are approximately thirty-five members in the Senior Ili-Y. This club has stressed Christ- ian leadership throughout the school this past year. Mr. Eugene Kunselman sponsored the group and they have participated in many activi- ties, such as sending boys to hlohnstown for a con- vention. Senior Hi-Y The sixty-five members of the twelfth grade Tri-Hi-Y have shown great progress this year. Participating in Tag Day, sponsoring after-game dances, and selling lunch tickets were among their activities. And a few girls attended a con- ference at Sewickley. Miss Sara Wliley is the sponsor. Tri- Hi- Y Eleven The Eleventh Grade Tri-Ili-Y showed active interest in comnninity and world problems by sending delegates to the model U. N. Tri- Hi- Y Eight The forty-seven members of the eighth grade Tri-Hi-Y enjoyed a busy but successful year. Tri - Hi- Y Seven For those who are just entering into the club system of I. H. S. there is probably no better starting point than Tri-Hi-Y Seven. This club, sponsored by Mrs. joanne WVarner, carries out many services which are not only of service to the school but also a source of enjoyment to all of its members. Dramatic Twelve Creasepaint, makeup, and constant rehearsals are familiar reminders to the members of the 12th grade dramatic club. Girls Chorus 9 This chorus, under the direction of Doctor Harry Caulield, is especially designed for girls who desire an opportunity for gaining skills and pleasure in the art of singing. Special attention is placed on breathing, phrasing, expression, tone quality, and expressive performance. The lunior Chapel Choir The Junior Chapel Choir is an organization made up of junior high students who are interest- ed in music. Their activities are identical to those of the Senior Chapel Choir. These students are responsible for the music in the Iunior high de- votional assemblies. They are chosen by the sponsor, Miss Mary Cephardt. The Library Club The Library Club is a service club composed of girls who are Willing to spend all of their spare time helping our librarian, Miss Zacherl. The girls do many of the jobs and duties around the library such as working in the stock room, putting away the books, and attending to the front desk. The Band The Indiana High School Band not only is a very necessary service to the school but also provides pleasure for the players. The objective of the organiza- tion is to provide the players of band instruments an opportunity for the develop- ment of their skill. The Band is under the direction of Dr. Harry Canfield. This society is affili- ated with the County Historical Society and does yeoman service at keeping the county groupis records in excellent shape. They take many field Amateur Hour assemblies are produced nearly every year. These give an opportunity for pupils to present their specialties in an audience situa- tion.
