if SOFTBALL Coaching softball for the '76 year was Mary lane Megee and assistant coach Wanda C'0leman. Her managers, Delessa Derrickson, Annette Handy, Darlene Lockwood, and Laverne Wescott, were a big asset to the team. They not only took care of the score book and equipment, but they also looked for signals from the other teams. Becky Moore was the team's catcher and worked hard to improve. Other catchers were Cheryl Townsend, who is very conscientious and a good team player, and Diane Steele, who was a good hitter and had a strong arm. One who got very nervous before games, but had good concentration during the game, was pitcher Denise Belmont. At first base was Martha Custis, another conscientious player, and also Cheryl Townsend. Second base was covered by Natasha Hayes, who added a lot of spirit and enthusiasm to the team. Maria Taylor, throwing an accurate fast ball to first, was positioned on third base. Shortstop Sandy Deloach bunted well and had a good attitude toward team playing. Right field was covered by Lesa Doughty, who had a good eye for fly balls and also played center field at times, and Beverly Steen, who worked hard both at practice and at home. Two other right fielders were Dawn Marvel and Monica Tino: both were dedicated players. Positioned in center field, the most improved player on the team was Cheryl Wingate, and hardworking lane Hickman. Sabrina Leonard, with an extremely accurate arm, covered left field. i liil f ..,.
