Share in our fun, our acfiviiies, and our achievemenis-buf, mosf of all, share in our memories. In this issue We present the story of our school days at lmmacu- lata. Here are moments-fleeting bits of time captured forever in pictures and in words. Once again it is June and time for us to empty our lockers-these treasuries of a full rich year. As we store away our scribbled notes, put aside our beanies and our books, take a last fond look at our white tassels-we recall the expression of a face, the tone of a voice, the feeling in the depth of our hearts. These are the things that have happened. These are the things that really matter. And yet . . . this book can only be a footnote to the real life at lmmaculata. The deeper living, learning, and high ideals are now within our minds and hearts-an intimate, personal part of each one of us. It is, then, with ioy and gratitude that we present . . As the humble Bernadette heard and answered your petition for prayer and sacrifice-so, too, do we accept your challenge of unselfish de- votion to the cause of Christ in the modern world. These were the three most important days of our school year. Reverend Herbert F. Weir, Pastor of the Church of the Divine Child, Dear- born, Michigan was our retreat master. Through his inspirational retreat talks and through the long hours he gave us in the confessional, he brought us all closer to Al- mighty God. A Year of A.M.D.G. . A YEAR OF A.M.D.G .... "for the greater glory of God" . . . is the record inscribed by our faculty during this year of 1957-1958. At the communion rail they talk to God about us, in their academic planning we are their first con- sideration, in the classroom they teach us, and outside of school they are our friends and ad- visers. Such privileges as entering by the main door, being first down to lunch, first out of a gym assembly, and first in the eyes of teachers and underclassmen alike, or such privileges as wearing a senior ring, preparing for a senior prom, being feted at the iunior and senior banquet and the sophomore breakfast-these and many other such merits made us long for that heavenly period when we, too, would enjoy the schoolgirl's paradise associated with "being a senior." During this our fourth and last year at Immaculata, how- ever, we have come to realize that being a senior means ever so much more than these incidental advantages. It means be- ing first in spirituality, in studies, and in sports, first in social living, maturity, and leadership, and first to set the good ex- ample of sacrifice and service. it has taken us a long time to understand what it really means to be a good senior, how to appreciate our school, our teachers, and our classmates in the right way. And now that we do, we must learn the hardest lesson of all. Being a senior means that in June we must say "good-bye" to four wonder- ful years at I. H. H. has not been ne- glected. From community singing in the morning to intramural sports and club meetings after school we were in a constant whirl. Freshman initiation, exciting Sodality fairs, operetta and dramatics programs, choral and orchestra concerts created social diversions all through the years. And, of course, we'll never forget that good old "cafeteria comraderie" at noon time. When our dances came along we had almost as much fun decorating beforehand and cleaning up afterward as we did at the dance itself-but iust "almost," We'll always remem- ber "Showboat," and "A Date with an Angel", the pride we felt in showing our dates around the school, as well as the sociability that was a part of the dances themselves. We'll remember especially our heavenly last dance-the Senior Prom held in the Crystal Ballroom of Lovett Hall. These and many other memories will go with us through the years to remind us of our happy high school days at l. H. CLASS OF 1958 .M 5, -3? 4 ' sf 4: me sf gee .. e in' ',':,,f ft ..,:. H. we have sung these words and reminded our Lady that she was "queen of our school" and that we were, in a special manner, dedicated to her service. At lmmaculata our love for our Blessed Mother has been deepened and through her intercession we have come closer to Christ. We are grateful for all of the spiritual advantages we have enioyed. Through the talks given by Father Dietz, the lessons learned in every class, and above all through the opportuni- ties we have had to assist at Holy'Mass and receive the sacra- ments frequently-our spiritual outlook has been broadened and our moral convictions strengthened. We realize-and with a bit of fear that we have not al- ways cooperated as fully as we might have done-that our part has been to accept these spiritual gifts and Christlike guidance. Those of use who have tried earnestly to cooperate know that the spiritual formation we have received will cer- tainly help us to survive and spiritual conflicts that we shall meet in our future lives. From each one of us, then, a sincere word of thank-you for all at lmmaculata that has lecl us more directly and closer to Christ. e ""' ' K M 'fx ,H - .:i- K -1: ,.2'f .ES - -eff: F -- - Q is '31"'T as ' i 43' 4 il, fi ff ' 555' 5 ' M '- "V N' ' Q 5 ' 55? li Y 1 - ' Sail ,522 ' em, ,V im 2 e w are In NNE, a --: Q 33 wg X H -A H?
