The Immaculata curriculum is that prescribed for the Parochial Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit. It in- cludes a recommended number of units in Religion, English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science sup- plemented with a sufficient number of units in Art, Business Education, Home Economics, Languages and Music. The purpose of reason is primarily to discover goals, aims, and destinies and secondarily to concentrate on the means that will lead to this end, thereby molding a stu- dent's character, the sum of his choices and decisions. 7 Lf? i' There IS Oblectlve Truth In Rellglon . . . as well as in mathematics and science 1 f Ki K'- 4 41 Old errors and new isms hold The interesr of The Joniors in the Religion class, the History of Clwrlstiarv Crvrlr1afiOvW The Sophomore covwcerwfrares our Cmholrc Doctrme and the mean mg of revelation fx If fav f r ff 4 1,-J.-,,.. . ., il I wr s., ' , r H X4 White corpuscles Red corpuscles Capillary wall cell Si 4 agp ll lb f 65 ji' 51 ,v 4 I ' 1 57:-fi ' -K ATTN ,L?4.,s Wt Cardiac muscle nimuw ...H Hwy mnwl MIM wi. i ll ,g.imio miami' iiruimir' 1 N'l 'llllqgul Nl 'Wiuw ill ,MW iliflliilm I , iiiliil ffp' ..... Of that number approximately 1,700 are married. Seventy are serving God as nurses, social workers, teachers, and contemplatives in 15 religious Communities, The maiority of the others are in college. A few are engaged in professional work. As each year converts the future into the past and the Alumnae roll expands into another thousand it will become increasingly evident that lmmaculata's vocation ideal is the universal vocation of woman - motherhood. The viewbook camera was fortunate to catch this preview of the class of 1970 land their datesj as they broke balloons on Homecoming Day. aaa ,1 : A f . . 11 S' 1 B, as v-41+ .r ' 1155+ J.. 4, ?c'f'f1E,i' :fn , , ,. When we, no longer young, look back And see the dreams no longer bright We pause to wonder where we lost the path To the goal we set. We find we haven't tailed For we've built a home where love prevailed We count the blessings of health Of family ioys and trials shared. These have made our lives happy We have not tailed . . , And all the wealth of the world Could never compare With the happiness that comes With the love of a daughter so fair. Love . .. NAZARITA l.H.M. ln August l955 Sister Nazarita received her appointment to return to Immaculata and resume her work of the previous year, teaching Religion, Art, and English. During the busy days which preceded the opening of school Sister gave generously of her talent and time to decorate the corridor bulletin boards and display cases. To letter a motto on a blackboard or a quotation on a chart was lust a part of living for Sister. As registration gave way to scheduling, the school calendar and its demands for publicity began to accelerate toward the end of the first semester. To Sister Nazarita the approach of the second semester meant more than an apparent acceleration of time. In pursuit of medical attention Sister re- turned to the Motherhouse in Monroe only to learn the reality. God was asking Sister to endure unrelievable physical pain and suffering. Fourteen months later on the feast of Saint Joseph, March l9, 1956, the Divine Artist added the final stroke to the life of one who had used her talent to bear witness to Him in sym- bol, sketch, and scroll. The Sisters and Students will remember Sister Nazarita as an artist to whom no piece of artwork was too large to be attempted nor so small that it was over- looked. Sister's last big task at Immaculata was to design the life size wooden figures for the outdoor Crib and to direct the Senior Art class in painting them. Sister's last painful trudge from the Convent to the School was on the January semester holiday and for the sole purpose of assisting the students with a papier- mache angel which they were using in their Blue Heaven dance decorations. May the soul of Sister Nazarita and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in the eternal peace of that kingdom prepared for those who live their lives on the principle, Nothing is too great to give, Nothing is too small to count. skating and loved swimming. fore the throne of God. er The heavens KEJ OICS' Ano Lei' The exam ae gigs aefone 1-he fu.-.ef of The Logo . In God's eternal plan Judy was to graduate from Immaculata two years before ner class but into that world of the eternal present. No one would be better prepared to add the personal note to .ludith's caption than her mother. ln the letter which accompanied Judith's picture Mrs, Parrant wrote: ln October l953 Judith enrolled in Civilian Defense A Q Training, receiving her award in the Spring, l954. She planned to con- '4' tinue her training in the Fall. ln sports, she excelled in skiing and ice The people who came at the time we lost her commented on her sun- ny disposition and friendliness toward grown ups as well as children. The class of l956 is depending upon .Judith to continue her good work of being friendly toward everyone by remembering their intentions be- i 1 5, OVING is the vitalism of charity in self giving . . . the dedication of the whole personality to God in Him- self and to all creatures in Him, Devotions to Mary Immaculate, God's Mother, and in honor of the mysteries which her Fiat initiated for us form the background for Immaculata's program of material and spiritual giving throughout the year. A package of food and medicine for destitute dependents in Detroit or for a poor peasant in Mexico carries with it as much of Immaculata's heart as does a prayer for Our Holy Father's intentions. Daily recourse to prayer and frequent reception of Holy Communion is each student's eternal gift to herself during these important adolescent years. The problem of spirituality is never, then, a question of timef it is a problem of thought. For it does not require much time to make us saintsg it requires only much love . . . Sanctification is not a Place at which one arrives but a Way one travels. ec-f'l 49 Jf +4 1' --g I a r p f , 1 , I , Zin wif.. x wc fn, 5 i-,h. , I 1. .s, ,V 3 ,, ., 'zl ' X 1- '-ofa , 3' 4' 'a 1 ' 9 1 A'J:5, 1 kg, V W, i il- , 'I 1 ' rv.Q, .l 5 J 'V' I , . -rf I I., 1. , ' W ,Q -v - faaffm ' ' lil.--L 1 .Q ffr' . v 1 4 M ,E- I 1 y . , 1 ,.
