Vliehigan. Dr. llunt was educated in publie sehools and the Lini- versity ol' Nliehigan. While in high sehool, he was very active in one ol' the first Student Government organizations ol' this eountry , one started in l9l0. and through it he made elose eontaet with teaehers and principals. becom- ing aequainted with the pleasures and troubles in all edncator's life. Under this inlluenee. he deeided to study for a teaehing eareer. Dr. llunt believes there is great advantage in coordinating the whole publie school sy stem under the direetion of a General Superintend- ent. as he feels that it gives lioard of lfdueation business administration employees a share with teachers and prineipals in responsibility for edueating young people. and promotes eo- operation and eflieieney. In Ur. llunt's estimation, prime requisites for efiueational leaders are ability' to under- stand and like young people. a desire to help others, and high eharaeter. as these adults show young people how to live, and should set examples worthy ol' being followed. ln many instanees. the alorementioned traits and the relationship between pupil and instruetor may' be of greater value than a perleet knowledge ofthe sulrjeet in whieh the teaeher speeializes. Acting Principal. who presides behind the huge desk in the North 0fIice. and his as- sistant. Nliss Lucy' Buckley, who coordinates the work of many phases ol' school routine. The secretaries and clerks. who recortl credits, keep records under lock anfl key, care for finances. and perform any task that presents itself in the office. Grade-advisers. who. in cubby -holes throughout the school hear the ysoes of parents, teachers. and pupils. Their yvistlom must solve the problems involved in these troubles.
