MR. JOHN R. SPECHT Mr. Specht uFrom errors of others a wise man corrects his ownf' is a very wise saying, but there are al- ways a few who think that experience is the only way-in all situations. Because this characteris- tic is present in so many people today, it is most necessary that it be guided. Here at Hyde Park, it is the job of our assistant principal Mr. John R. Specht to see to it that students do not get Hoff the trolleyf, Correcting the mistakes of youth is not an easy job and, in addition to this, Mr. Specht supervises the programming of pupils and is the final authority on all the detailed work of Aitchpe. Grade Advisers The saying goes, c'Probabilities direct the con- duct of a Wise manf, but that obviously is not the watchword of the Grade Advisers. There are advisers for each grade level and as soon as there is evidence of a pupil's uprobable fail- urei' either in conduct or in class studies, an in- vestigation is made to determine the cause. How- ever, grade advisers were not Hinventedn for the sole purpose of preventing failures. These teach- ers, in addition to their regular classes act as regulating factors in adjusting the freshies to their new mode of life. Recently, another job has been added to the already numerous tasks of the grade advisers-that of the Attendance Oflice. The first and third year students, in or- der to be reinstated, go to their grade advisers, who are located in 150. Sophomores are required to see their grade advisers in 216 and seniors are referred to theirs in 227Mg. 1 GRADE ADVISERS: Standing-Miss Whelan, Sophomore Adviser: Mrs. Edgar, Senior Adviser, Miss Walker, Junior Adviser: Miss Rolilm, Freshman Adviser: Mrs. Priddy.
