Debate gives the students who participate a further opportunity to take part in speech work. The topic for this year was Resolved: That the lfnited States adopt the essential features of the Russian system of education. The eight students on the de- bate squad were coached by Mr. Bill Scherer. Members of the team were: Judy Filk, Susan Altentaler, Barb Sheppard, Bill Asp, Luther Luedtke, Faye Al- brecht, Eugene Veenhuis, and Harold Schlueter. The squad placed 2nd in the Region and 12th in the State. At the New Ulm tourney, the squad tied for first. At the St. Cloud match the squad received lst in the A division and 2nd in the B division.
