Ffutclzinsan . . . The city of Hutchinson is one of the most attractive in the state of Kansas. Along with being a relatively clean city, Hutchinson is also the center for several lm- portant businesses and events for the Kansas area. Hutchinson is the home of the Carey Salt mines that supply vault and storage for the Federal Reserve, medical records, and many motion pictures such as Gone With The Wind . Hutchinson is also the home of the Kansas State Fair, which arrives every fall to bring a wide variety of exhibits and entertainment to the state of Kansas. Carey Park, along with being the home for the Hut- chinson Zoo, is the site of the Bud Detter baseball dia- mond, home ofthe Hutchinson Broncs. The NJCAA has its headquarters inthe city, as Hut- chinson Community College, also located here, has a tradition of one of the top ranked basketball teams in the conference and the nation. The college itself holds a superior rating among junior colleges in the region, and boasts one of the best nursing programs in the state of Kansas. One of the most important additions to the city of Hutchinson was the Kansas Cosmosphere and Discovery Center. The Cosmosphere contains the OM- NlMAX theatre which shows the most revolutionary films of this decade, a planetarium, and some of the best space exhibits in the world. Hutchinson also has a mile long grain elevator that stores a majority of the grain for the farming communi- ty. Only several of the highlights ofthe city of Hutchin- son were mentioned, but the city contains many attrac- tions that allow it to continually remain one ofthe best urban areas in the state. ,X 2
