Prologue The Board of Trustees extends a grateful Thank you to those who have helped to make this a suc- cessful year for The Hutchinson Community Junior College. Students and staff members have devoted much planning and patience toward creating a spirit of dynamism where confusion might have been the plight of lesser souls. May 7, l965, became the signal for transition. No longer a member ofthe Hutchinson Public Schools, the college set course toward reorganization amid the clamor of building construction, enrollment in- creases, and the need for new instructors. The new name retains the tradition of the city's role in its history and indicates broader horizons by adding the word community, The Dragon's Tale draws attention to the changes through its theme of interchange. The cover motif depicting a highway route intersection indicates the mergence of new people and new ideas. The brief two years on this campus, indeed, are comparable to one of many route changes students experience in life. We wish to emphasize that college rarely sup- plies a blueprint for the future. More often, a campus serves as a center where one may read signposts and change routes if he so chooses. Those who remain aware of locale and are alert to the horizon may find similar intersections and sign- posts throughout life. The Board of Trustees hopes to continue to pro- vide the best in facilities and instructors so that students will have the finest opportunities for higher education. Hyla Trimmell Bacon
