Most of us worked all the way for it The others, they just drug by. You really wouldnt believe it But my, how time does fly. It was only twelve short years ago That most of us started to school. And now that were thegoldest here We think we'veout grown the pool. It worit be too much longer now Until graduation day. When we all sit together here And listen to what they say. Then we'll all begin thinking That the old school days were best. We'll remember all of the good times And we'll never forget the rest. We'll long to be in the class rooms When school takes up the next year. We'll see the old school bus roll by And in our eye there'll come a tear. But others have felt the same. We'l1 just have to go on our way As it is all a part of life's game. Of course, we'l1 always remember it Written by Shirley Callahan '54 CLASS MOTTO---' THIS FAR AND FARTHERH CLASS COLORS---MAROON AND WHITE CLASS FLOWER---WHITE CARNATION l Z i , 2 vi ii L+ i 1 , g :Z 5 Q , .... Out of the 39 there are 15 continuing their schooling at Town- ship. They are Barbara Alford, Joe Bailey, Rita Barnes, Verlin Benson, Max Buzzard, Shirley Callahan, Janet Day, Juanita Falk, Everett Gearhart, Bob Heiney, Mark McHenry, Carol Solloway, Lawrence Storey, Shirley Wires, and Donetta Hildebrand. In the second grade our class was divided into two sections, Mrs. Verner- der having one section and Mrs. Musgrave the other. We had two new stud- ents, Carolyn Keel and Ronnie Laurie. The third grade found us still divided into two sections, our teachers being Mrs. Vernerder and Miss Fleck lMrs. Palmerj. This year Sarah Biehl and Bob Barton joined our class. At last in the fourth grade our class was altogether again, and the lucky teacher was Miss Gesaman. This year our class increased in size by having Frances Beedy and Albert DuPriest added to our roll. We were sorry that death robbed us of Bob Barton this year. We started the fifth grade off with 1 bang under the direction of Mrs. Wike. We learned many interesting things about birds during the year. Larry Johnson, a member of our class, was taken from us during the year by death. We went on to the sixth grade with wonderful dreams of soon being in Junior High School. Our teacher this year was Miss BitnesCMrs. Fleckl. During this year Peggy Melling came back to Township and Delight and Dewight Rader decided to stay with us after having changed from Horace Mann to Township several times. We were now entering Junior High and did we ever think the seventh graders were something. This year we elected class officers and had Mrs. titley for a sponsor. S Wie gained one new member in our class who went by the name of Rhea an s. By the time we were eighth gradersyve were becoming more accustomed to Junior High and again had Mrs. Stitley for a sponsor. We received two new classmates, Maynard Fisher and Shirla Tucker dur- ing the year. As Freshmen we entered High School, thrill! thrill! Our Sponsor for this year was Mrs. Glenn. Many of the girls joined an organization called G.A.A. This year we gained one new member named Ruth Ann Sharp. During the Sophomore year we tried to get back down to earth and study. ye had Mr. Yake for a sponsor and enjoyed the parties we were allowed to ave. During this year we lost Frances Beedy, Ruth Sharp and gained Bob Gamble. As we entered school our Junior year we felt rather cocky and import- ant. We had Mrs. Helen Kreiger for a sponsor. This year we gave a reception for the Seniors that we thought was simply grand .The Nautical Theme was used through out the decorations. Out of the Junior class we lost Bob Gamble, Peggy Melling, Larry Smith, and Shirley Teush. We also greeted Ronnie Hall into the class. Well this is the final step, now we are Seniors, with Helen Kreiger as our sponsor again, we have expected and have accomplished many things. There are now only 32 of us, for we lost Marilee Coles and Henry Johnson. We dreamed of graduation day, and looked forward to the Senior t1'ip. So as of now, the Seniors say goodbye to their fellow school mates. Barbara Alford Shirley Callahan Rita Barnes F'Z.OpgLG The year 1964 has come. Ten years have passed since the Seniors of '54 were graduated from Huntington Township. Three juniors of the same year decided to inquire of their activities and their whereabouts. Before taking off from Huntington lpopulation now being 133,000J, we noticed a long line of people, waiting in front of a block long building, which is now the main office of E. R. Small and Company. Upon entering the office of the General Manager, we saw, seated at the desk, Joe Bailey. Joe informed us that one of the members of the class was holding a re- spectable position at the airport. Arriving there we saw Robert Heiney, han- dy man, cleaning the vertical gyroscopes. Bob directed us to our jet, Laroca, which was to take us to New York. On our way to the big city, we read in the papers there was a good play on Broadway named Pupicola Peruviana, which we wanted to see. We set our jet down near the theater, and went to buy our tickets. Rhea Sands, who was overheard saying she would be a hit on Broadway someday, is now an important person, selling tickets. As the curtain went up, we found the leading lady to be Shirley Wires, and the leading actor, Ray mond Sunderman. When we returned to our jet, we found someone putting nitro in our fuel tank. We took him by surprise and were astonished to find David Sailors, who explained he was making large quantities for experimental purposes, his latest being a fuel for jets. We took off with a bang, headed for London, proving Dave's experiment worked. Once in London, we looked in on Scotland Yard and bumped into Inspector Lawrence Storey, who was hot on the trail of Max Buzzard, wanted for stealing chemical formulas from the laboratory of the dominating profes- or, Ronald Motz. We left London and proceeded to Paris stopping for lunch at a sidewalk cafe and were amazed to see the waiter was Monsieur Richardo Zickafoose. On our way back to the plane we passed a model agency, and saw Sarah Biehl modeling the latest in French bathing suits. From Paris, we traveled to the French Riviera, where we encountered Donetta Hildebrand and Carolyn Keel tossing a party for Count Igor Fram- boise de Freezoue, that would cost S500,000 including paper cups for the champagne. The purpose of the party was to see which one would catch the Count as a husband. Just about everybody who was anybody and vice versa was there. Back in the jet, Laroca, we headed for Istanbul, where we found Mark McHenry, trying to change the name Istanbul back to Constantinople, but the people believed that it was nobody's business but the Turks. We flew towards Africa and arrived in the Belgian Congo. There we met Dr. Ronald Hall and his assistant nurse, Shirley Callahan, running a hospital for wounded aninmals. While we were there, two big game hunters, Jerry, bring them back alive, Benson, and Everett Gearhart, President of the S.P.C.A. iSociety of Pre- vention of Cruelty to Animalsl, brought in a wounded ant, which they acci- dently stepped on while aiming at other game. Next we journeyed to Mecca, Arabia, to visit the palace of Sheik Albert DuPriest and found him' with his harem. He invited us in for a small feast, and while we were eating, he called for his dancing girls, Janet Day and Rita Barnes. Concealing our astonishment, we proceeded to India. In the foothills of the Himlayas, away from civilization, we found Shirla Tucker and Patty Adams, raising rice and little Indians. We moved on to China and watched Maynard Fisher painstakingly re- moving stones from the Great Wall of china. We questioned him and learned that he had a girl in inner Mongolia and was saving on transportation fare. Our next stop was Tokyo, Japan, and we saw Barbara Alford working very hard as a telephone operator. She told us that you really had to have a plug for this job. We then headed towards Australia and were bewilder- ed to see Carol Solloway. She told us her husband Ronnie Laurie, was teach- ing kangaroos to play basketball. . Journeying on we came upon the colorful island of Hawaii. We were greet- ed warmly by Hawaiian hula dancers and leading them was, of all people, Marjorie Lahr. Leaving Hawaii we went to Mexico for a bit of entertainment. We decided to go to the arena to see a bullfight. Introduced on the billboard outside the arena was the famed matador, The Masked Menace , to be none other than Bob Mickley. Traveling northeast, we landed at an Indian Reservation in Oklahoma. We saw Juanita Falk who said she was married to Chief Running Water. They now have two children who they named Hot and Cold. Flying east, we stopped to refuel at Topkea, Kansas, and noticed a bill- board with the pictures of Delight and Dewight Rader on it. :'Which twin Has The Toni?,', was printed in bold type beneath their pictures. We climbed back into our jet, Laroca, hurried back to Huntington, rushed to our homes, where we retreated to our rooms with ice packs to recuperate from the shock of seeing the Seniors of 1954, Carolyn Davis Roberta Vought Larry Shriner X 52369 N -ae N 71 N, 'y - XX H, il oi' : ' Q Sf L ln- 5 li M7 - Fl Q ' 4 A Kent Andrew Roberta Vought Quentin Sargent Betty Day if-1 ' ' 's ZF9' '41 - . The Bearcats won the County Conference with 8 wins and 1 defeat, with the defeat coming from Roanoke. Three impressive Confer- ence wins were over Union, Lancaster, and Warren. Union had never been defeated until they met the Bearcats. In the Sectional Tourney the Bearcats went to the finals by de- feating Roanoke, Warren, and Catholic. One amazing accomplishment of the Bearcats was defeating the Catholic Ramblers 3 times in one season. Two seniors, Bailey and Laurie have played 1 year on the 2nd team and 3 years on the varsity. Bailey was elected Captain for this season. Jay Laurie won the Free Throw Trophey for the varsity and Marvin Beady won the Trophey for the 2nd team.
