Odom, we were able to forge ahead. Mr. Odom received his academic training in the public schools of Mobile, Alabama, B.S. from Grambling State University, and M.S. from Ohio State University. These coupled with additional study and travel have helped make it possible for him to keep the ship shipshape. '-'-'.......-.l '72 ' THE ASSISTANT PRINCI PALS DR. MURRAY L. Qfflfip, L 9Sw1u The Huntington l-ligh Football Team began the 2nd year in Raid- erland with tall hopes. Season no. 2 started brilliantly with the Caddo Parish lamboree where the Raider football team showed that they were for real by winning both quarters: 7-O over Fair Park and the other 7-O over Byrd. The Raiders vvere looking for an abrupt turn- around in pigskin fortune, but for some reason it did not come. Maybe the breaks were not there or maybe the time just had not comeg yet they kept movin on. 1 ,Ric P, I, , 4 W Q ,aa , if ,il. 1-' xf A A I L, I ?. .nf N .,,,, , af a W, M 1.,. The two year old Raiders enjoyed the fruits of a 17-13 overall season, and a near second place finish. Coaches Larry Shoemaker and Danny Bob Turner guided their men to a special playoff, a heartbreaking loss to Byrd, in the season's finale held at Centenary's Gold Dome. The Raiderfs second year will go dovvn in the log as a productive one. They brought home the first athletic trophy of their young career by taking second place inthe Ringgold Tournament. A close look at the statistics shows that they ended the year with a 6-5 district record to finish third in 1-AAAA, and that they vvere a constant threat to be in the playoffs. Due credit must be given to the thirteen men vvho made up the varsity squad. They exhibited team effort all the way, and produced several standouts. Harold Thompson was the city's leading scorer, averaging over 21 points per game. Rebound leaders were Harold Thompson, 14.5 ppg. and Douglas Duncan 13.8 ppg. fiifxg Mwfff Q Q: 197 The tension was high, Not here brother! 41.34-z-: ,- ,.W,, Y , GULF -1975 SENIOR LETTERMEN Sam Woolbert jeff Bertsch . , K ,,k, W., why, . , - ,. ,.1,..- ,,5,H1,., ,,',rf'f,p':'2Y . Lee l l The junior ROTC course is another way in which students can further their abilities by more than one means. Its purpose is to teach leadership, respect for authority, responsibility, and discipline, After a cadet has obtained these principles, he may live a more successful life in both military and civilian style. ROTC offers two extra-curricular activities - Drill Team and Rifle Team. During the classes, cadets learn about military topics such as Drill and Ceremonies, Psychology of Leadership, Techni- ques of Military Instruction, Military History, and Combat Tactics and Formations. Each year there are awards given to the outstanding cadets achiev- ing scholastic and military excellence. SFC William Malone AWA R DS DAY ,lp Maj. Each time a page was completed, one would think of the triumphs and defeats of the past year. The final football game, the last time the Silver Treasures performed, the English test not studied for - all come flooding back into our thoughts of forgotten days. It is my hope that everyone viewing the C-ALLEON will also experience these feelings of nostalgia as they turn the pages of the past, not only this year, but in years to come.
