As a result Charlie is put in the Warren State Mental Hospital. Charles is released to his Uncle Herman and spends the next 17 years working at a bakery owned by friends of Uncle Herman. Charlie attends a night school for retarded adults. His teacher, Miss Kinnian, hears about the experimental brain surgery going on at Beekman University. Charlie undergoes this surgery and like the test mouse Alger- non, becomes a super genius. There is, however, an unseen flaw in the hypothesis. This money was then matched by an anonymous donor and the entire sum was applied to the American Dream , the challenge of paying off the college's debt. PRAISE GOD!!
