Each year, seniors win scholarships and other awards and recognitions for their academic excellence. This year, the Class of '82 had four Na- tional Merit Scholarship semi-fina- Centralis students make news happen lists, and sixteen students received letters of commendation e a result of their outstanding performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test. Students, participation in the fine arts provides more news sources. Each year, they perform outstand- ing dramas. Cabaret and the annual musical are always sure to make headlines. Central's budding artists and musicians always have news- worthy achievements. The Red Devil marching band, always con- sidered outstanding in the DRC, has now begun competing and making news of its own. School, however, is not the only place students create news.
