We cordially invite you, as Pirates of Hugo High, to turn the pages with us as we recall the many Treasured Tales we have shared this year. Since we began our collection of Pirates Treasured Tales in Septembe we have had many experiences., We hope this book will help you to remem ber such Gems as the Freshman Initiation, Homecoming, the High Schoo Parties, ball games, Junior-Senior Prom, Pep Club Banquet, and Graduation. They have formulated the policies that have helped move Hugo High School steadily forward. Through their ceaseless devotion to public educationg their many hours of effort for which little praise, no profit, and the usual criticism that a group acting in this capacity is subject tog our school has grown. Our athletic fields, new kitchen, music room, beautiful library, lockers, and improvement in school facilities, we owe to the forthright vision of our School Board. They were chosen on the basis of honesty, courtesy, friendliness, cooperation in school activities and in classroom activities. Johnny Hines--junior--outstanding in football, basketball, baseball, Honor Society student, 3-year member of the band, Student Body President, active in his Church youth organization, an Eagle Scout and always willing to help where needed. Richard Poss--senior--pleasing personality, outstanding football tackle-- a friend to all. Mr. Virgil Hoff has been Speech and Drama Coach and has directed his students in some fine productions. Last fall two one-act plays, Night Scene and Echo, were presented to a local audience. This year the Drama Club presented the one-act play Night Scene, for the league one-act play contest held in Kit Carson. Robert Weeder of the cast won the Best Supporting Actor Award, for his portrayal of The Man, a drug addict who had the main role in the play. In February the Club presented Pride and Prejudice. The play was well received and complimented highly for its outstanding scenery and costuming. The Drama Club will present The Wall at the State one-act play contest, 2 which will be held in Colorado Springs in April.
