The world of today is a highly tech- nical world: the world of tomorrow promises to be even more complicat- ed. With each day mathematics be- comes rnore essential to all of us. At Hughes a student may follow a tour- year course in mathematics, from Al- gebra, through Plane Geometry and Math Ill, to Math IV. This year an ac- celerated course for outstanding stu- dents has been added to the curricu- lum, Also offered are courses in Gen' eral Mathematics, Business Math and Consumers' Math, all recognizing the fact that a knowledge of figures and basic computations is a necessity in our civilization. Those of us who have reached the edge of the unknown un- derstand that mathematics is the light that will roll back the cold darkness of the space into which we venture.
