5 INCE the world has become air-minded, it is not odd to soar above our city to get a better view of it. A beautiful sight from this position is the tower of Hughes rising above surrounding buildings, anddistinguish- ing itself as a landmark. Inside and outside we find evidence of the fact that surrounding communities may be proud of Hughes. From the confused freshmen on the first day of their high school careers, to the proud seniors on the last day of theirs, Hughes is truly part of the best years of the lives of those who study there. For many, graduation is the end of formal edu- cation, while for others, it iust a stepping-stone to a higher education. ln either case, a milestone is passed, all go proudly on to greater heights, with fond memories of Hughes upon which to look back as they progress in learning and living in the world found outside the walls of high school. The foundations of today lead on to each and every good year to come. 5

M UGHES, erect and proud, watches with patience and possibly amuse- ment, the events that happen during a school year. lt is these incidents which make high school an integral part ot the best years of our lives . The things which are important to us now will all blend together to form a memory of a happy past whenever the maiestic towers of Hughes appear to us, and we review with pleasure the experiences that always accom- pany happy memories. Hughes shares many secrets with us as we pass these fleeting moments of our lives within her halls, iust as she has shared the secrets of the other thousands ot hearts who have imparted their ioys and heartaches to her. Her walls have played host to the initials of many who wanted to be remembered. Now that the walls are repainted, these names are forever blotted out, but she remembers those who contributed much to her fame, graduated, and went on to greater tasks ahead in the world. 4
