I am conscious ot a re- sponsibility akin to that ot a sea captain, I must be the master ot my ship, ot myself, and ot every emergency. I must back my ability vvith keen judgment, accuracy, and untaltering confidence. My tearlessness must be tempered vvith caution and vvisdom, I must knovv my air- plane in order that I may recognize its limitations and appreciate its possibilities. ,N ll I2 l-lROUCl-l countless difficulties and fog-hidden dangers the skilled force of navigators have led the student fliers, Under the able com- mand of Pilot Merry and Co-Pilots Kizer and Roberts, they apply toward the education of the young fliers, their knowledge gained by arduous training and thousands of flying hours. Some of the navigators are engaged in training the students in language and history so that they will under- stand the countries through which they fly Others teach mathematics, science, and mechanics, training the students to chart their own courses, and preparing them to repair their own equipment if they are forced down. The girl students are taught household arts in anticipation of their duties as hostesses aboard the big plane, Somehow finding time among their other responsibilities, the navigators encourage the student fliers and give them final advice before the take-off.
