CURRICULUM Shorthand and typing are two important divisions in our commercial department. Here the students learn valuable information that will aid them in nearly any career they wish to enter, either commercial or otherwise. The complete cycle of bookkeeping and accounting taught here at Huey-town assures the students of confidence and a well-developed skill with which to meet the world and its ever-growing demand for bookkeepers and accountants. Showns at the adding machines are Janice Mason, Charlie Robertson and Cecelia Wellborn. Physical fitness is very important at Hueytown. The boys in Coach Higginbotham and Coach Holsembacks' physical education class are sure to be in good physical condition. Shown in the picture is Ronald Roper doing his daily exercise. Shown here is a tenth grade psychology class. Psychology helps the student to develop an understanding of himself as well as his fellow classmates. The students taking part in a panel discussion are Jimmy Parsons, Pat Mur-phee and Tommy Odom. [ 19 ]

CURRICULUM The reoding classes ot Hueytown are taught to improve the student's reoding skill. As shown here, Mr. Vines uses films to help improve this skill. Our senior dramatics class has grown very rapidly in the few years we have had it. The first project of the class is to produce a Christmas play, and later the production of the senior play lies in their hands. Many enjoyable hours for the student body is produced by their efforts. Mrs. Helen Gillespie teaches various activities to those in the girls' physical education classes. The activities in which the students participate help develop both physical and mental health. Here Betty Hanson attempts a free shot. Homemaking students are taught the basic principles in home management, sewing and cooking The correct setting of a table is a very important achievement Here Ann Jones and Marguerite Lambert demonstrate how to set an attractive table.
