YOUTH IN CLASSES

In Memoriam With the death of Theodore Wich- mann in June, 1967, Hudson High School lost one of its finest and most dedicated teachers. Many students through the years knew him as a teacher of biology and German and as an interested and active adviser of the Biology Club which he made into one of the most active and popular organizations in the school. He was always willing to help students and other teachers whenever he could. Mr. Wichmann's last act was that of helping another, which was typical of his life. This page is in memory of this fine teacher who contributed so much to Hudson High School. 14

Losing locker keys and understanding Julius Caesar were among the problems con- fronting us as sophomores. We soon adjusted ourselves; and after many hours spent on our first homecoming, we began to distinguish the class of 1968 by winning the Homecoming tro- phy. We gave the traditional advisory tea in honor of the civil defense, and the year was made successful with the guidance of Mr. Cas- sutt and Miss Carriar and the capable leader- ship of Andrew Turner, Gail Brown, James Olson, Jean Engstrom, and Stephen Chandler. Leading our Junior Class were Andrew Turner, William Engstrom, William Hopkins, James Bertelsen, and Jeanne Bourget, who were advised by Miss Carriar, Mr. Cassutt, and Mr. Weitkamp. The football season was highlighted by the juniors as we won the Home- coming trophy again. Another repeat was that the Little Brown Jug stayed in Hudson. We soon learned that the rumors of how difficult chemistry was, were not just rumors. Our written accounts of countries gave English III a foreign atmosphere. An early Christmas pres- ent was enjoyed when we received our class ring orders. Many of our class members were involved with the music department’s produc- tion of The Sound of Music. After many hours of hard, but fun work, we successfully carried out our prom theme, A Taste of Honey. Our senior year marked the end of our high school days, but memories lingered on. After having won the homecoming trophy for three consecutive years, we were awarded the trophy as a token of our achievement. Markell Lanpher was chosen as our Homecoming queen. MACBETH, tough physics problems, as well as political, social, and economic trends kept us busy with homework. On Nov- ember 10 and 11 we successfully presented our class play, Papa Was a Preacher. James Ol- son, Jean Engstrom, Mary McKenzie, Jeanne Bourget, and William Engstrom capably led our class under the guidance of Mrs. Qualls, Mr. Weitkamp, and Mr. Cassult. We were graduated May 29, 1968, leaving our friends behind as we approached our careers with anx- iety. 16
