5. Howard's Silver Spurs Chapter ofthe National Junior Honor Society was organized in 1952, the same year Howard became a school. lt is one of over y eight hundred chapters located in cities of the United States and her possessions. A roster of members is maintained in Washington, D.C. , the national head- quarters. Membership in the society is based upon scholarship, character, service, and citizenship.
