Q 77 ,,, 511, W LETTE? FROM LITTLE BENNY Dear Senior: Well: Well: Well: Look whoz hear: The Sofomores of 1940-412 You no, I herd in a roundabout way that some'eres some-body somehow wanted two no about us so we'll tell'em. We started too school, as most good littel boys and gals do when they gets to that certain stage, as the greenest of Freshies lat year. We became not quite so green when we were inishiated by the so--called sofistikated Sofomores of last year, upperclassmun Junures of this year. Us girls wore knee pants while the boys maid whooppee with our dresses and make-up, We all wore green hareribbons and honions to make us look greener than we natchurely wood. Us girls had to bow to the Sofomores while the boys curtsied to them. And, of coarse, we had the tradishonal task of carrying books. Our nest grate event was the Old Settlers Reunion which happened on September 29 and..... ...... the school parade. Our Freshmun flote was HTrezure Islandu and we got forth plase our of fore entrance. We thot our flote was clever but the jedges didn't. Bout the first offisial act of our class as Freshmun was to elect offisers which wer, President, Charles Angellg Vice Pres. Mark Floryg Sec.Dorothy Morrowg Treasure,Ruth Richardg Chear-leaders, Helen Aleza- nder and Jerry VanBuskirkg Studen Council Representive, Mary Wisner. The Freshmun had there first party as a mascerade Hallowe'en party, which quz completed with luscioud eats. CRefreshmuntsD As uzual we plaid games but wuz premitted to play Post Office which bust ed our harts clean to. e HUs'nsU next went into the headlines Calmostb in the Interclass bascetbal turnimant. The Freshmun girls wuz runner-up to them thar Seniors girls but wuz de-feated 8 to 4 in the finuls. CThe boys got beet, 2313012 in the first round.D Us Freshmun had a Frezurc of Scavenger hunt on November 26 with 55 of us their. Dicky Heisler, Lee Garmon, and Ruth Richards on the priz. It wuz sugested that the rezon for that wuz that they wuz the committee that fixed out the list of t ings to get. Could of been. Our next festivity wuz, of coarse, the all shool Xmas party at which ever-boby enjoyed theirselves. We Freshmun also had a good time. Us Freshmun started the bal rolling in 1940 by having a leap year party at the skool house on Febuary 14, Of coarse, their were some steedies and then, of coarse, their weren't. Then came to famus notis again when upon a five minutes warning a grupe of people had to get up, in chapel, on the stage and give a de-bate. The Senures and Freshmun lost to the Junures and Sofomores. Next Page
