May 16, 1951 Dear Menzenita: A I was 'ust sitting here looking at the calendar- do ou know that 10 C3 C a 9 0 1 9 years ago today we walked down the aisle and received our diplomas, 1 started digging among some of my things and found the annual our class put out in 1941. lt was really a good annual. As I glanced through the pages, it brought back many happy memories. Do you remember? September 5, 1937 forty-five Freshmen, stumbled up the stairs and halls to the auditorium where they were greeted in turn by the teacher and upper classmates. So thus our careers began under the guidance of Miss Payne. , ' Just one week after we had embarked upon our journey, we were initiat- ed by our enthusiastic supgriorsi the sophomores. At the fall festival we were very elated when we received first prize for our float. And do you remember in the fall of 1938 there were only forty members of our old freshmen class to begin as sophomoresfand it was our time to initiate the freshmen?f We were quite easy on them considering our treatment the year before. And we were very proud that five members of our class received football letters that year. At last, Juniors, with Hr. Bergsma and Hrs. Buchele helping us through this year. 'One of the schools biggest events was the presentation of ouf junior play, NISE COLQNEQQxQAlQ,H which proved to be the best play ever given. Cn April 18, we entertained the Seniors with a glorious banquet. The theme HSQHlQQ3H:GA5QQH-EABTXN was carried out with white picket fence covered with flowers, and Spanish moss hanging from the ceiling. In the center of the room, a tulip bed, set off the atmos- phere of the theme. After the speeches that go with banquets, the Juniors and Seniors went to the Willet Hall for dancing. In return, the Seniors gave us a picnic. And once again we won first prize at the fall festival for our float. Here we were in 1941 on the last lap of our high school days with thirty-three members and with Nr. Arnold and Mr. Bergsma telling us the correct turns. We got our class rings, ordered while Juniors. Have you forgotten how the juniors entertained us at a HHAWAll5E LUAQH given April 17 at the Presbyterian Church with the HKings of Sweet Swingu to dance to afterwards? To score another hit we presented HYOUR EQCE IS FAQlLlA3H, a three act play. And do you remember how excited we were about our skip day and what a glorious adventure we had? Have you forgotten our HClass night, Baccalaureate and Commencement nightn. and how we all drew a breath of relief to think we were out of high e school? M With Love Helen HcGrew Sa ,fn xx
