HHHHUHII .. Vectra, if 1 ,J Erie system must eventually be filled at Hornell. The storehouse for these is a most interesting and revealing spot, and contains an enormous supply of all sorts of materials, the value of which is the large sum of six million dollars. Once again the importance of Hornell in the Erie system is shown by the fact that both the center for the accounting of the entire railroad and also the main time- keeping oHice is located here. Occupying such an important position in a system the size of the Erie, it would be quite impossible for a city in Hornell's place not to be affected in some measure by this great industry, and so we find that, with the rise and decline of activity on the Erie, the prosperity of Hornell Huctuates proportionately. Further confirmation of this may also be deduced from the fact that the Erie employs a total of two thousand, two hundred local residents and annually spends some five million dollars here. As the Erie is the theme of our book, we have tried to make clear to you how very important this industry is to our city and our school, for indeed, the lives of all of us, as long as we live in or around Hornell, will be in close parallel with the Erie Railroad. For this reason, we feel that if any Hornell organization should be honored in our book, the Erie would alone completely qualify and would alone meet our ideal. f,i...,, . , ,X Vnxx.. .Mm M-xx-AN .. ., X-vwfx Xxx Rig
