In as much as a New York State Chorus Contest was inaugurated this year, interest ran high and a very ambitious repertoire was under- taken. None of the Glee Club will soon forget the Night of Music with the various choruses of the city, nor the Music Festivals at Painted Post and Addison. Some of the best numbers this year have been Echo Song by di Lasso, Venetian Love Song by Nevins, O Bone Jesu by Palestrina and Tally Ho by Leoni. The Girls' Glee Club is looking forward to combining with the Boys' Glee Club next year for an A Cappella Choir, the goal of all vocal music in High School. Page Forty-foul' Boys' Glee Club The Boys' Glee Club was organized last Fall and from the beginning has demon- strated a remarkable spirit of co-operation and progress. Meeting only three times a week, the club has memorized an extensive repertoire of four-part songs, including some of the finer college songs. On April 13th the club will attend the Male Chorus Concert in Buffalog participate in the New York State Glee Club Contest at Painted Post, and the Steuben County Music Festival at Addison. One of the greatest thrills of the year Was enjoyed at the Annual Hornell Song Festival when the Glee Club united with three other clubs of the city for benefit of the Welfare Association. The Boys' Glee Club promises to be one of the most active organizations in school. fb fo 2 994' i 6 Page Forty-tive Maple Leaf Staff We, the members of the staff present this MAPLE LEAF to you, the student body of Hornell High School, with the hope that you will ind it to be one of the best ever published in the history of the school. This dramatic selection was directed by Mr. Clicquennoi. The Queen's Husband had not yet been presented when the MAPLE LEAF picture Was sent in for publication. This was due to illness on the part of one of the leading characters. As the result of illness the play was postponed from April 15-16 to May 12-13. The Queen's Husband differs from the traditional mysteries and domestic com- edies presented in other years, in as much as the setting is a mythical kingdom in Europe. Such a play promises much in the Way of costumes, interesting lighting and color effects. As this article goes to press everything seems to indicate successful production. Much credit should be given to the cast and members of various committees who have worlled faithfully to make this play a reality. King Eric VIII .,,,.... Queen Martha ,......
