STUDE T COUNCIL The Student Council is a very young organization. The representatives are elected by their classmates. Under the able supervision of Mr. Hoffer, transpor- tation to the out-of-town football and basketball games was furnished for the students. They select the monitors on the basis of their capability and de- pendability, to maintain order in the halls. The monitor stationed at the center of the first floor hall acts as the receptionist to help visitors. Page 25

ATIO AL HO OR SOCIETY Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service are the four standards upon which mem- bership in the National Honor Society is based. This society was established to give due attention to those deserving students who possess the qualities necessary for good citizenship in the years that are yet ahead of us. These quali- ties are most often determined by participating in school and community projects, by co- operation with schoolmates and advisers, and by a genuine interest in academic pursuits. Each year a committee of faculty members chooses the new members, who must have a scholastic average of 85 or above. This year the society admitted nine new members in an inspiring ceremony. An added attraction was the guest speaker, Dr. Eibling, whose en- lightening message was warmly received. LIBRARY STAFF The library is under the full-time guidance of Mrs. Hammack, who selects twenty-five student-librarians to assist her in the work of the library. It is the chief aim of the library to present an efficient service to the student body and faculty by providing for authoritative, factual, and leisure reading.
