GALE llzlll Undefeated Football Teamg Regional Basketball Champsg Speech Winners: High Ratings in Scholarships. SEPT:- 1 VVell iklds! Start getting those pencils sharpened and notebooks out, cause school is just around the corner. 5 School was officially here and the students seem- ed eager to get started. 7 Our veteran football team .inaugurated the foot- ball season wlth a victory of 19 to 12 over Central Catholic in our new Memorial Stadium. OCT.- 18 Our gallant Vikings made the Homecoming a great success by a 32 to 0 victory over Spring- field. 30 The scene, Stow gridiron. The play, Stow vs. our undefeated Vikings. The result, a hard fought victory for our team-21 to 7. 31 Teachers went to Cleveland. You know what that means: we got a well deserved vacati-on. NOV.- 3 A picture show to remind us of the importance and the great work being done by the Red Cross. 4 Our team lkept their undefeated streak intact by downing an old rival, Jackson-27 to 7. 8 Our Vikings, for the first time in the school's history, ended the season undefeated by downing Norton-74 to 0. 14 The Seniors put on a three-act mystery-comedy, Are You Mr. Butterworth? It turned out to be a great success. 25 The Student body was entertained by the songs of the Deep River Quartette. 27 Thanksgiving Day, no school, so what did every- one do? Eat, eat, and eat. tXVho cares about the walstline-73 DEC.- 1Our basketball team made its first appearance against a strong Middlebranch team and won by an impressive score of 62-42. 5 The Vikings hilt a stone wall at Akron Ellet and went down to defeat-55 to 36. 9 Our Vikings rebounded from defeat to turn back Kent State-43 to 25. 12 The Springfield Spartans nipped our fighting Vlklngs 42 to 38. 16 Although playing their best game so far this sea- son our hard fighting boys were stopped short of victory by Louisville-37 to 38. 22 Santa Claus is almost here. Time to hang up your stockings! 23 The graduates returned to be defeated in the Alumni game 40 to 22. 26 The day after Christmas flnds us romping with Central Cathol-lc. VVe lost 58 to 46. JAN.- 3 SVe traveled to Minerva and won 57 to 25. 5 Another year and classes are in session. 9 Our boys again travel to Norton. This time we win 62 to 40. 13 gfmlumggana was our next foe. We downed them t0 . 14 Five Senior girls took the D. A. R. Scholarship Test. All of them placed high. 16 Today we started exams. XVhat a workout our minds got. We also played host to Coventry Township and won 57 to 52. 17 By 3:35 all exams done! Thank goodness' The gallant Viking squad traveled to Louisville but we lost 52 to 49. 23 KVe roared to a score of 51 to 42 against Akron E let. 27 A hard fighting Viking quintet rolled to a 62 to 39 victory over Jackson Twp. 30 The Vikings extended their number of wins to 9 when they defeated Springfield 40 to 38. FEB.- 6 Thirty-two Seniors took the Senior Scholarship exams and the Viking B. B. team traveled to Stow where they came out on top by a score of 29 to 22. 7 The Vikings played host to Kent Roosevelt and won the game by a score of 51 to 42. 13 North Canton again plays host but this time to Nt,FFIfJH'S Basketball team and overpowered them - 6 to 27. 20 The county B. B. tourney began at North Canton and play practice for Annie Laurie had a struggle to continue. 19 Baseball. North Canton 21 The Vikings defeated a. strong Stow quintet by a score of 58 to 41. 23 Central Cathollt-'s Crusaders came to town ex- pecting victory but were defeated 43 to 31. 27 The North Canton Dramatic Club gave its play entitled Annie Laurie. MARCH- 1The sectional basketball tournaments began at Kent. 3 NoCaHl defeated Streetsboro in the sectlonals by a score of 79 to 20. 4 The second game of the sectlonals ln which North Canton participated ended N. C. 64-Deen field 13. 5 Once more the Vikings went to Kent and came out on top by defeating Norton 67 to 30. Now we travel to the District. The District Basketball tournaments begin. 8 12 The Vikings won-crushing Ashtabula Edgewood by 50-17. 13 The North Canton Vikings became District Champions and received many trophies in honor of the occasion. 15 Youngstown here we come to the Regional tour- namenl. 18 Such a day! The Vikings were full of steam and put Alkron Ellet out of the toumament by a soore of 47 to 33. 20 NoCaHl became Regional Basketball Champs by topping Midvale 47 to 43. 25 Today the student body received a much de- served assembly. They were entertained by the hell rlngers who proved to be very fascinating. 26 The school rejoiced to have a limited Easter vacation. 30 All grades 9 to 12 took an educational tour through the Hoover Company. APRIL- 1 Everyone beware! lt's the state basketball finals at Columbus and look who's there. None other than NoCaHl to play Lima St. Rose. 6 Combined assembly was held to see a very good glass-blower. 9 How our poor brains are racked! The prelimin- ary dlstrict state scholarships were held today. and also the Junior Class presented their play. 10 More running around. The state band and chorus dnals were held today. 14 The much enjoyed, always entertaining Spring Music Festival is here. 16-17 The Junior Chamber of Commerce sponsored a local talent program. ls entertained by Springfield Township. 20 Everyone was entertained by the annual Grade School Operetta and the baseball squad met Jackson. 23 Kent. Look out! For here we come to the Dis- trict band and choir contest. The Vikings met Stow today for a little round of baseball. 30 Norton played baseball at North Canton. MAY- 1 Final District State Scholarship. NoCaHl as usual rated very well. 4 Baseball-North Canton traveled to Coventry. 7-8 Solo State finals for Vocal and Instrumental. North Canton was well represented. Also Springfield came to N. C. to play baseball. 8 The big event' The Junior-Senior Prom was held at the Alliance Country Club. 11 Baseball-Stow showed its power on the N. C. diamond. 14 Students beware! Your work is showing. Par- ents and friends visited school for open house and were well entertained. 15 District track meet was held at Orange. 18 Baseball-The Vikings traveled this time to Norton. 21 The Regional baseball meet started in which the Viking nine participated and the XVoma.n's Chorus sponsored a concert. 23 Baccalaureate Serviice. Now the Seniors hegln to feel a. little homesick for NoCaHi and the true meaning of school touches all. 28 Commencement exercise. 1Ve have reached ah- other goal. Senior motto: LAUNCHED BUT NOT ANCHORED!

JU l0ll Now that we've gained the rank of Juniors, the eleventh rung' on the ladder of 'secondary educationj we're studying, reading catalogs with serious intentions, working part-time in local establishments, wishing for a part in the Junior Play, looking forward to the Prom with mixed emo- tions and hoping' to make 304 by forty-nine. We're well represented in all phases of school life, too, the Varsity team, debate, band, orchestra and glee clubs, and two of the six cheerlead- ers are Juniors. The first and last touchdowns made in the new Memorial Stadium were made by a promising Junior athlete, and as no minor detail, atoms, shorthand, participles and quadratic equations have really begun to sink in. Who knows, the Junior Class may shelter another Einstein! As for the future- - Just watch us grow. OFFICERS Pres., Eugene Hoettler V.
