It is their duty to restore the building to order following any school activity. With their aid, we have approached the end of many bright and shining days as illustrated by the two, tired but happy, Seniors, pictured below. The sch0o.l building, the workshop of our two custodians, is pictured in the background. fgfdr rms' 10 SENIORS 11 7:8 F RO FIRST YEA R SECOND YEAR TIII RD YEA R FOURTH YEAR E lllll M PORTAL TO PORTAL We freshmen began our journey with high spirits, and a sense of adventure, but all too soon we encountered the difficulties of high school work. Nevertheless, we traveled the road without shirking, and at the end of our first year we had absorbed much knowledge, tasted the social life, engaged in athletics, and participated in sehol' arship, Although it was hard for us to realize it, we were great big sophomores, More than before, our abilities gained us recognition in every field of endeavor, especially in sports. And more than be- fore, we were conscious of society. Juniors! Just think, we're juniors! My how time did tly. We pre' sented a dandy performance of' Almost Summer, with much credit going to Mr. Nagel. Our boys starred in football, and performed brilliantly in basketball. Besides that, several of our masterminds did well in scholarship. Of course, the big social event was the JUIIIOI'-SQIIIOI' Prom held at Shady Hollow Country Club. We have reached the last leg of our journey now, and wist- fully we recollect the struggles and accomplishments of the tirst few miles. Not much concerned, however, are we with the past, for the atfairs of' the present keep us busily engaged. Our record has been good, and we are proud. Our class will be remembered chiefly for its superb athletes, but no less distinguished are those who have Worked diligently and consistently in music, scholarship, and the other activities which mold the man. May our record in life be as noteworthy. OFFICERS Pres., Ray Sumser V. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan, was presented by the boys' and girls' glee clubs in the latter part of Novembe1'. The H. M. S. Pinafore is a nautical operetta in two acts and may well be called the story of a lass that loved a sailor, for the story hinged on the love and outcomes of all the leads' adventures. Lead- ing parts were played by the following: SIR JOSEPH PORTER, Bill Liebtag, CAPTAIN CORCORAN, Ray Sumser, RALPH RACKSTRAW, Roland Swanson, DICK DEADEYE, Sherman Pratt, BOATSWAIN, Dick Seemann, JOSEPHINE, Joanne Grove, COUSIN HERE, Shirley Trott, and LITTLE BUTTERCUP, Barbara Miller. The leads and the entire cast did a fine job on this famous old operetta. 57 IIIIIII IIIII I Il NI IHXX 'I'4mx 1'IamxuIIv IZIIISHIIIII.l'I:15lf-114':al'sm:, I1iII Iiilulx, .I,m Iillxxx-u'lI1 In I I1 Iv Ilwvmlll ,XIufl'1'fxx, Iuxzlynf- If'-I,-mu, IIIII lllslwp, IIHIQIUII Sxxzlluw-11, NI1uXII IIHXX SI1-Irxxin Snlxmlvr, XXEIUII IHIIU-rl IIIII IHIXMII, Ivuzm-, QI-INIIIVIX, I II I III: IIIII FIIIIIII, Ibn Ii:Il1t'm1m, lm-Ig S1-wnullnlu. The Senior Play Are You Mr. Butterworth ? might better have been called Anything Can Happen, as almost everything did. The gener- al theme ef the play was a mystery-comedy involving the disappearance of some jewels in possession of an explosive Mr. Bashinsky, jewelry salesman. Besides the mystery of the jewels, the audience was kept in lingering sus- pense wondering' when Mr. Butterworth would show up. Also mingled with the plot were numerous performances by unauthorized and unexpected characters. The play, directed by Mrs. Meyer, was well leceived. On Friday, February 28, 1948, the Dramatic Club presented ANNIE LAURIE, a three act drama of tragedy, hatred, land love. Annie Laurie has fallen in love with a Sir William Douglas, a young man belonging to a clan much hated by the Lauries. Therefore, Annie doesn't wish to marry Lord Ferguson to whom she is engaged. A war aris- es and both men answer the call of their country. Two years later is Annie's wedding day. She must marry Lord Ferguson because Sir William Douglas never returned from the war. Hut when the wedding march is about to begin, Sir Douglas does return and Annie leaves with him. They try to cross a lake in a raging storm. They are nearly drowned but Lord Ferguson rescues them. Lord Ferguson then releases Annie from her promise and she marries Lord Douglas. Thus the hatred of the clans is dissolved. 'k CAST 1.
