But her uncle, John Carteret will not give his consent for their marriage because of a grudge he has carried for fifty years against Kenneth's father. Kenneth was sent to war only to return four years later, a crippled man. He tried to make excuses for not feeling the same toward Kathleen, but with the help of Dr. Harding,' John's best friend, the two were finally united.
