'Vinnie Get Your Gun Annie. shy and awkward, comes to the Wilson House to sell some quail to the proprietor. When the proprietor hesitates. Annie points out that these birds are not all shot upg 'ijust one little hole in the head. lt just so happens that Buffalo Bill,s Wild West Show is in the process of moving into this hotel. and in spite of the owner's objections, the show people are tacking up signs, making speeches, etc. 'llhcir handsome and famous sharpshooter. Frank Butler, challenges any local person to a shooting match. The irate proprietor. after seeing Annie demonstrate her ability with a gun. has her accept Frank's challenge. Annie puts on a great show and beats Frank. She is so good that Buffalo Bill per- suades her to join the show. She accepts, mainly so she can be by Frank. for she has fallen in love with him. The show tours the country. and Annie becomes more and more popular until she is the main attraction. Frank has fallen in love with her: but when she becomes too popular, he thinks she is trying to beat him. and he leaves to join Pawnee Billis show. Nleanwhile. Annie has become friends with Chief Sitting Bull. and he adopts her into the Sioux trilme as his daughter. Time passes and Buffalo Bill's show tours Europe. They are graciously re- ceived. but they are paid with medals and trophies instead of money. Their bank account becomes so low that they return to New York on a cattle boat. As they enter the harbor they are met by a boat from Pawnee Bill. inviting them to a party in their honor. They accept, in the hope that they can talk Pawnee Bill into merging the two shows: and Annie hopes that She and Frank will be able to do a little merging. Z' I' 'l'hev arrive at the party. Annie,s chest covered with jeweled medals from her trip. She finally meets Frank. and they are off to a good start until the conversation turns to who is the greatest shooter. 'l'hcy quarrel. and decide on a shooting match the next day to see who can shoot better. Sitting Bull decides she would he better off losing the match. so he fiwres the sights on Annie's guns. She tries each gun the day of the match and cannot hit the target. Finally old Sitting Bull explains the situation to her. and she lets Frank win. He then asks her to marry him. and as the play ends. they decide to become partners in marriage and to combine the two shows.
