Legs were stretching, hearts were pumping, last minute shoelace tying took place, excited onlookers were already cheering... Ready! Set! Bang! And they were off! Homestead's teachers, sponsored by students, family, and friends, were the participants of our first Dawn on the Green Jog, Walk, Crawl-a-Lhon. There was a great turn out of students, families, and faculty talong with Mama Lyon's dog, and...uh...ahem!...a frogj. The day was packed with fun- lilled events such as tennis, ping pong, basketball, and of course, lunch, with good ol' Uncle Wolfie Hanisch behind the barbecue pit. SYMPTOMS: Stress, high blood pressure, heart failure, panic. CAUSE: The notorious disease that has embedded itself in the walls of Homestead High School for 25 years, taking malicious control over the bodies of all vulnerable students, Procrastination Ca.k.a. the Leave-It-To-The- Last-Possible-Or-Nlaybe-Impossible-Minute-So That-You-Either-I-lave-To-Stay-Up-All-Night Or-End-Up-Stuck-In-A-Rut diseasej. CURE: Elusive and widely unknown. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we have been struck by an epidemic that has driven many of us to the brink of insanity, and a few have even gone overboard. But what are we to do? This malignant infection is costly! Most of us spend our four valuable years here researching for the antidote, and some have even started before their freshman year. We can't afford to spend the money that Procrastination demands from us, either. We need bucks to go out shopping for clothes or watch a movie instead of doing our homework for compiling a yearbooklj, Procrastination orders us to. And then we 38 have to spend time and money buying our coffee and our 6-packs of Jolt Cola in order to study all night for our tests the next moming andfor finish up the term paper due the same day. l We are a suffering humanity searching for a cure to aid us in our survival. To any man, woman or child who thinks he may have a solution: HELP!
