Kindergarten-First-Second Mrs.Swanson We began our school year with thirty-three children, nineteen in the primary, seven in the first grade and seven in the second grade. About mid tenn we lost two students, Ten'y Garner and Vernon McAfee. On March first Tfimmy Nelson ioined our first grade group and our enrollment now stands at thirty-two. We have had many interesting activities in our room but we have especially enioyed our outside excursion trips. We have visited our local library and post office as well as numerous trips around town looking for Nature study specimens At the beginning of the school year we decided that in order to be happy students we must work in a pleasingly decorated room and an attractive room has been our years'proiect. Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades M...s.fb... We completed several proiects this fall and winter. Our maior proiect was making puppets rrom paper mache. Each student made his own character puppet and clothed him. Another successful project was the making of covered wagons for the Dakota County Teachers Association dinner which was held at Homer, Janixary 25th. Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grades We have, this year, combined the sixth, seventh and eighth grades md so have a total of twenty-one students. Throughout the year we have participated in many activities. Our Halloween costume pcrty was enioyed by everyone. The committees provided qapropriate Holloween games, decorations and lunch. At Christmas-time, along with the third, fourth, and fifth grades, we presented a portion of the Christmas progrcn Our Christmas party was observed by an exchange of gifts an d treats. One of the most interesting proiects of the year was the making of Christmas decorations. Centerpieces for our mothers were made of logs to hold candles. Our fathers were treated to homemade fudge. In May we presented a program in honor of our mothers. Each mother was presented with a carnation. Our boys have enioyed basketball this year tdcing part in their toumament at Dakota City. Our room has greatly missed Judy McManigal who has had to miss the year of schooling because of ilTness, We hope she will be able to reioin us this fall.
