History of Freshman Class As green frehmen we entered Homer High School on August 3lst. Fifteen scared, green freshmen came walking up Homer High steps. Of course the first day is the worst day because you don't know what's going to happen The tint day we were told what subiects and teachers we were going to have in each class. We elected our class officers which are the following: president-John Longwellp vice pesident Keith Rosep and secretcry-Mylet McFarlin. We elected one member to the Student Council which was Duane Evans but since they fthe twinsj moved, Nancy Harris has taken his place. The freshman class sponsor is Mrs. Wagner. On the Friday of the fourth week we faced lnitiation in the aftemoon by the iuniors and Kangaroo Court in the evening by the seniors, A dance followed initiation exercises which was a lot more fun than the initiation exercises. Next around the corner was our Halloween party. At this we had a scavenger hunt. In the last part of January we gave Dwight and Duane Evans a skating party and afterwards we had a wiener roast. ln the spring of the year we plan to go to Sioux City and spend the dues we have collected in English class for our poor speech. We hope our sophomore year will be as successful as our freshman year. 15
