Technical careers in these helds grow more important every day in our modern world: we must prepare ourselves to lead, here as elsewhere, so that our fellow men may come to recognize and acknowledge the power and wisdom of Almighty God in the works of physical creation and the laws that govern it. On these three days, the students lay aside their books and regular round of classes to devote themselves entirely to the important task of their spiritual development. Father Harold X, Folser, S. J., our retreat master, was ever ready to help us. His welcome aid, the daily Mass and Holy Communion, and the extra prayers helped us solve our problems, form right values for life, and gave us a renewal of our religious fervor- Left: Retreat time was particularly important to these seniors, since it marked another milestone in the closing year of their high school careers. The carols, Nativity scene, delicious dinner, gaily decorated tables, Father Davies annual cigar and the Frosh clean'up committee are beloved traditions at our Alma Mater. This year the grammar school staged a delightful skit portraying the tribulations of Santa. There was laughing and singing and a hilarious ex- change of gifts. Each of the classes had its own Christmas tree, complete with icicles, lights and shiny balls. As a sign of coming of age all the senior boys received cigars from the Reverend Principal. Later, an orchestra provided music for dancing. The one solemn moment presented itself when the seniors real' ized that it was the last time they would play a part in this gala scene. USIC M KER From the four classes at Holy Family, Sister Mary Joanne has chosen the Glee Club person' nel. A smoothly running organization, the Glee Club holds practice twice a week. The delightful selections rendered range from difficult fourfpart harmony to the popular, springing melodies in which its members excel. Our patriotism, as well as our faith, follows into the auditorium at Glee Club rehearsals. The old American favorites that quicken the love of our country in every heart ring out enthusif asticallyg a reverent, spiritual quality marks our presentation of church music.
