Our Lady of Fatima rllllli lX'llCSSAl2Ii or FA'r1xlA IN 'lxOIDAY,S X'VORI.I7 The people of the twentieth century have gone through two war periods and are now being threatened again with this misery. ,ln May, 1917, Our Lady ap- peared to the distressed world at Fatima. She carried God's peace terms. Christ- like living, penance, the Rosary, consecration to Her Immaculate Heart were her requirements. For the tirst time in all creation she hore a threat if the world failed to regard her. She said war would come, nations would he destroyed and Communism would spread all over the world. A small child, all in white, preparing to receive Our Lord in Holy Com- munion - the calm serenity of Father he placed in my soul for the First time jesus Christ. Other small children, an indescribable thrill, and always to be remembered, my Pastor's reassuring presence in God's holy sanctuary on that blessed May morning. . . . Months became years - I was no longer a small child, nor were my class- mates - we were eighth grade graduates. Our carefree days were over - we had been guided, taught and cherished - by our teachers, but especially by our Pastor. Never a moment of success or need in which he did not figure as a kind guardian of tiny souls. . . . Father in his moment of triumph - years of fruitful labor rewarded by God's earthly representative - speeches, songs, tributes, congratulations, and always Fatherls serenity, giving a heavenly aspect to all. Purple robes of glory dominating the entire scene -H lending sublime tranquility. A special word for each congratulant - and for his school children, a fatherly smile and word of encouragement. . . . Hard study - relaxing hours, solemn retreats - difficult exams - joyful friendships climaxed - high school graduation. Our Pastor speaks - his words never so eloquent - his guiding hand - never so apparent. Quiet reassurance - timely warnings - complete tranquility. 'Twelve years of tender guidance. Now, young men and women, we face life, knowing that Father's prayers follow wherever we go. MONSIGNOR CONVVAY we paraphrase the words of a noted writer to express our thoughts: You have lived in the midst of the world without wishing its pleasures - sacrificed your own happiness for the good of our soulsg ha-ve shared our fain- ily life, yet lived with God aloneg have shared our secrets, healed our wounds, never thinking of your own, have shown us the splendor of Chastity, charity and pardon by your own. You have been our Father. We never realized until this year, how niueh work there was to putting out a yearbook. But it is fun. Every Sunday the stall labored strenuously organiz- ing material. There was a CUI1fL'l'Cl1CC in Syracuse, which the stall attended. Also a banquet and dance were held in connection with the conference. Then there was our annual yearbook dance. A royally decorated throne graced our king and queen, David May and Mary Nolan, who were elected by the student body, Then the Aehillt-an itselffthe dedication to Monsignor, who is Celebrating his twenty- Hfth year as Pastor of Holy Family Church.
