June, 1986 Dear Graduates: A his yearbook is dedicated to the memory of our loved ones - the Sisters of the Holy Cross. Almost thirty years ago the Sisters of the Holy Cross from South Bend, Indiana, formulat- ed a plan with Bishop Ahr and Father Cartier to build a Catholic high school for the students of Burlington County. With that, Holy Cross High School was started. These good Sisters were the direction, inspi- ration, and enthusiasm that got your alma mater off the ground and developed it to the prominent, excellent, flourishing school that it is today. Due to the declining numbers in their ranks and the need in other apostolates, the Sisters of the Holy Cross will be leaving us this June. We are grateful for their tireless dedication and service. They are leaving behind a school that has and will continue to have a significant influence on the spiritual, academic, and social well being of Burlington County. We are grateful to the Sisters of the Holy Cross for the great good that they have done for the Church in general and Catholic education in particular in this area. All of the Sisters who have served here will always live in our happy memories. In addition to the dedication of this yearbook, the Student Council would like to show its lasting gratitude to the Sisters by the erection of a grotto of the Blessed Mother in front of the Convent and School in memory of all the Holy Cross Sisters who have taught here. Through the intercession of the Blessed Mother the mission that these Sisters began in Christ will continue. The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary from Scranton, PA. have generously agreed to carry on the work that the Sisters of the Holy Cross leave behind. As a farewell to a tradition of nearly thirty years we say our heartfelt thank you to the Sisters of the Holy Cross. We will miss them. We will always remember them for the good that they have done for us and our school. We wish them God's blessings. Sincerely CRev.j James H. Dubell Principal 254
