BILL JUNG,MARY Kondaslw, and Pai Hennigan determine the actual mechanical advantage of a differential pulley. cience r0u0Le:i cgnferedf in aaic rincilo ea We have only to remark the excellent quality of our revised textbooks and the significant superiority of our lab facilities to demonstrate how the Science Department of Holy Cross has kept abreast of the recent development in the scientific field. Instead of the first year general science course of previous years, a new program of physical science has been introduced. With the funda- mental knowledge acquired from this course, the student is enabled to further his understand- ing in the biology, chemistry and physics classes. For the fourth year, through much enthus- iastic effort in the annual Delaware Valley Science Fair sponsored by the Franklin Insti- tute, our students demonstrated their growing Page 44 interest in the field of science. Several outstand- ing students of the upperclasses have attended the advanced education seminars, also sponsored by the Franklin Institute. Included among the specialized courses offered were those of ad- vanced chemistry, physics and astronomy. Here, through familiarization with the various aspects of these supplementary studies, the students are better prepared to meet the challenge of college science programs. Among the many rewarding experiences for our science enthusiasts this year was the annual New jersey Catholic Round Table of Science Examination, encompassing both science and math. It is here that the individual is made aware of the proficiency he has acquired through our extensive science program.
