I-IISTGRY Everything that is Worth remembering should be written down in history. In these great years of 1946-47 A.D. we now write the history of the Senior class of '47. All interesting and worthwhile events of the preceding years and this year are now written as a fact. In the fall of the year of 1943 we became Freshmen for the first time. We had little social activities but we sure worked hard trying to pass our subjects. Mr. O'Dell was our sponsor in the Freshman year. Many new members joined our class in the Freshman year, but before the year was over we had lost a few of them. In the fall of 1944 we came back to school happy. We were a smaller class but we still were full of school spirit. We remember that we had many different teachers that year. In the fall we Went on a biology trip with Mrs, Harrison to the King's Spring and in the latter part of the year, under a different teacher, Mr. O'Dell, we climbed the mountains on a field trip. A In the fall of 1945 after we had become Juniors we elected Mrs. King as our spon- sor. We had more fun I believe than the Seniors on that outing we gave them. After the outing we found our pocketbooks were low, so we began searching for ways to make money as the junior and Senior Banquet would be coming on soon. Later, we gave a play called the Calamity Kids, and was it a calamity! During our Senior year of school we had lots of fun. Remember that banquet the Juniors gave us? That was something out of this world. We worked like Trojans the Night of Fun and what a hilarious time we had, as well as having a great time in the spring on our Senior outing. Then came Commencement and Graduation. We can best express it in rhyme: After the work of the years was all done Many sobs and sighs ended our fun. The years had passed quickly we can tell Which we topped with a sad farewell. Graduation for us was no more a dream, It wasn't as gay as it uscd to seem. We took our diplomas and with heads bowed, Left our Alma Mater of which we'll ever be proud.

s CLASS PRGPHECY As We gaze into the Crystal Ball of Time we see faintly the members of our senior class. Some of them we haven't seen since our graduation. Ten years have passed and time has dealt some cruel jokes. As we gaze closely, the view is clouded, but as we wait it begins to clear. First, we see Cora E. Vance, a great actress and still hoping to get her man. Since she strove so hard to be an actress in High School we hope she suc- ceeds. Next, we see a football game and who is carrying the ball but our own Bruce Pickle? He is now an All-American star at the University of Tennessee. Margie Nell, who is now Mrs. Leo Rutherford, lives with her husband at Hickory Tree. She has lots of time to take care of their many children. Gloria Houser is in New York working as a model and hopes someday to come back and marry her redheaded boy. We see a tumbled down house and Betty Glover, now Mrs. Glenn Carrier. Time has told on both of them. We knew that there was a boy by the name of Marvin Jones but we didn't think that Betty Bunn would marry him. The class knew it was love at first sight when Chester South and Clara Bains got married. Minnie Lee Carrier is living at Blountville with her husband and seems to be very happy. Our view goes to Hickory Tree again and we see Wayne Carrier and Anne Peters with a yard full of little Carriers. Mary Lynn Carrier finally gave up hopes of getting married and settled down as a school teacher at Emmett's. As we gaze closer we see a singer, Arizona Potts, who thrills the world with her deep bass voice. Anna Lee Shipley is now Mrs. Gene Lowry and she has her arms full trying to take care of both big GENE and little GENE. Bonnie Phipps is now Mrs. Marvin Davenport, she is very proud of Marvin, jr. Nell Stewart, as cute as ever, is now keeping house for Eugene Morrell. Yes, she and Jack finally broke up. Jewell Carrier is J. Edgar Hoover's private secretary and still able to type fifty words a minute as she was taught by Mrs. Stallard. Elizabeth Morrell is regarded as a lady in waiting now that she and Carl Phipps have agreed to disagree. Louise Cal- houn is married to Grady Hubbard and taking care of a very large family. jean Gray is a beautician and still single but she says she just won,t be an old maid. Now the scene changes to one of sorrow. Leona Rice is still living at Hickory Tree and says she will never look at another man since Luther Wolfe broke her heart and married one of those city girls. Wesley Carrier is a proud papa and thinks he holds some kind of record since all ive of them are girls. As the view in the crystal ball begins to fade we see Miss Jones, our Senior sponsor, still at Holston Valley, her twentieth year. i,
