It was the long-awaited Science Convention attended by the foremost scien- tists of today. These brilliant men and women have brought forth the results of ten years' hard labor for the benefit of humanity. A group of six prominent doc- tors: William Schlemer, Murray Goldberg, Librado Gonzales, Rich- ard Krinsky, Betty Menke, and Ru- dolfo Abeyta, have produced a serum for the prevention of hair- raising during terrifying moments. Chemist William Figueroa, and Shirley Rubin, laboratory techni- cian, will manufacture their Super Crystals to take the place of rain-' bows in rainless countries. Selma Katell, famed pediatri- cian fbaby doctor to youl, has perfected a way of reducing stork expenses by an effective means of bargaining. The greatest pathologist of our time, Marie Otero, has found a new method for white corpuscles to combat disease germs. Her secret is that she fits a pair of boxing gloves to each corpuscle and lets them battle it out for fifteen rounds. BEATRICE SPERLING BETTY MENKE SYLVIA SCHROGIN On February 30, l952, an impor- Over Times Building Because of its mounting circulation the SIREN has been forced repeatedly to move into larger quarters, and now its business manager, Mary Agamalian, announces that arrangements have been completed for it to purchase the Times Building at 202 West First Street. Long ago the SIREN, under the able editing of Miss Eugenia Chor- ney, became a daily newsparper. The Times, long-time rival of the SIREN, has at last surrendered and gone out of business. Miss' Beatrice Sperling will become city editor in the new set-up. Crowds Tluong Huge Reinhard Stadium For Ulympic Games Thousands thronged the new Reinhard Coliseum at Hollenbeck to witness the events of the open- ing day of the Glympic Games, the first held in Los Angeles since the Second World War. Many records were broken. Here are some of the results so far. The high jump record was broken by Leo Bochner with a leap of 10' l5". In second.place came Meregildo Para with a juinp of 5' 13" On the track, Richard Krinsky, the speed demon of Hollenbeck, broke the hundred yard dash with a colossal run of six seconds, very flat. In second place came Ray Santos only one second behind our speed demon. Third place was taken by Adolph Schoenen. In the events ot the day,- others to place were Marvin Gurian, David Goldstein, Marvin Greenstein, and Edward Mulligan. Popular columnist Rebecca Schneider will be featured daily on the society page, Sports lovers will be glad to hear that Leo Varon, Well-known sports writer, will cover all ma- jor sport events for the coming season. One of the nation's brilliant news commentators, Marvin Zeid- ler, will express his opinions on current events in his column, "Views of the News." The best seller, "How to Influ- ence Teachers and Win Good Re- port Cards," by Frances Marks, famous long story writer, will be featured by the Book of the Half- Hour Club, in its complete, origi- nal, uncensored form. Harold Adler, at present over- seas corrrespondent of the Times, will be home for a brief vacation, after which he will return to Lon- don for the SIREN, to be able to give up to the minute news on for- eign affairs. Adolph Schoenen will be in charge of all the giant presses and press technicians.
