QHAOI' QCZHC! About 70 students have participated in band this year. During the tall months the marching band drilled at football games, was used to promote team spirit at pep rallies and games, led two parades, which were for Na- tional Kid's Day September 26, and for Educa- tion Week November 9, participated in the Melody Round-up in Hastings October 3, and went to Lincoln for Band Day October 17. New hats were bought this year and were used mostly the first part ot the year. In the winter and spring months the concert band presented its annual Mid-Winter Concert, prepared for Music Contest by presenting a pre-contest concert March 30, sent several band members to Kearney for a music clinic, played in the Music Contest at McCook April 95 and had a part in Commencement and Baccalaur- eate May 16 and 20. Mr. Alexander Carson is the director of the band and small groups. The small groups were the swing band, cornet trio, horn quartette, brass quartette, brass sextette, and clarinet trio. The officers of the band are: President, Bill Larson, vice president, Barbara Viren, Secre- try-treasurer, Helen Barnette, Librarians, Mary Carr and Roberta Schobourg, Merit Committee, Ianet Dahlgren, Steve Schroeder, and Kathleen Collins, Social Chairman, Mary Brown, Man- agers, Larry Harder and Dale Englund, and Drum Major, Roger Allmand. The majorettes for this year were, Plrlene Troxel, Patsy Wagner, Mar- garet Remmels, Ianet Harris, and Marilyn Iones. Page 50
