Sponsoring two sets of one-act plays was only part of the busy schedule of the Thespians this year. The society was led by President Larry Hoback, Vice-president Barbara Viren, Secre- tary-treasurer Helen Walkington, and Student Council Representative Steve Schroeder. Miss Delores Sjogren was the Thespian sponsor. One initiation was held each semes- ter, when new members were taken into the society. Something new was carried out in the December one-act plays. Each high school class presented one play, with the Seniors presenting, The Run- ning Tide g the Iuniors, I'm a Pool , the Sophomores, Couldn't I Kiss You Goodnight? g and the F r e s h m e n 'Swept Clean Off Her Feet. Through those plays, interest in dramatics was aroused and experience was gained by members of each class. The spring one-acts were contest plays. Two comedies, Mrs O'Leary's Cow and Sparkin' and Last Flight Over, a drama, were the plays given. The Thespians' main project for this year was to buy new indoor and out- door scenery for the school. They also went as a group to see a college play. Connie Linquist, Gari Hathaway, Connie Peiper, Dean Humphries, Margot Brown, Karen Shatter, and Bob Luke rehearse their lines for the one-act play Mrs. O'Leary's Cow . This is Crying in the Chapel '? Barb Lantz, Donna Poppert, and Helen Barnette used this tor a pantomime. Don Hohner, Sandra Hahlbeck, Carmen Hten, Io Dean David, Marilyn Iones, and Zelia Peck are choosing one-act plays. Sandra Hahlbeck is being made up by Larry Hoback lor a one-act play. a Page 37
