si Ortega Wins Regional Award Senior Matt Ortega added new honors to his already impressive list since enrolling at HHS four years ago. After winning first place in the 49th Arizona Oratorical contest sponsored by the American Legion and the Arizona Republic in March, Matt went on to Anaheim, California, where he captured the regional champion- ship. His next stop was Salt Lake City where Matt was barely edged out for a chance to compete in the national finals. As the first place winner in the state competition, Matt received a S250 savings bond and a S250 cash prize. At the regional his prize was a S1000 scholarship. Matt has an outstanding career at Holbrook, serving as senior class president, and vice president of the student council, was a member of the Academic Decathlon team, National Honor Society, Swing Thing, and Speech team, played on the varsity football team, and performed in Oklahoma and The Music Man.

Ste wart Is Century II Leader Bridget Stewart added to her already impressive list of achievements at Holbrook by representing Arizona in the Century Ill Leaders National meeting in Williamsburg, Virginia, last March. ln addition to earning an all-expenses paid trip to Colonial Williamsburg, Bridget received a S1500 scholarship. While in Williams- burg, she had the opportunity to meet with 102 winners from the 50 states and the District of Columbia to discuss today's critical issues. For her required paper on a challenge or need in the third century, Bridget discussed Social Security and the ElderIy. Bridget was a member of the Academic Decathlon team, National Honor Society, Student Council, and track team, and was active in many clubs at HHS. She also served as class valedictorian and has been accepted at Dartmouth College.
