EAGLE Hokes Bluff High School Route Two Gadsden, Alabama Editor: Donita Bowman Class Editor: Janet Sloan Organization Editor: Judy Junkins Feature Editor: Sara Sims Business Editor: Sherry Mitchell Sports Editor: Larry McCreless Photographers: Rodney Rich Tommy Whorton Forward Hokes Bluff High is constructed of steel and cement, strong and permanent, but it is designed to accommodate an ever changing flow of students with their learning ... their spirit ... their activities ... their leisure. Each day the halls ring with the hellos and laughter of students as they scuffle from class to class. When the bell signals the finale of another day some students rush to jobs ... some go home ... some seek quiet places to study ... some remain for football, basketball, base- ball, and band practice. Carl Sandburg says, It is the men and women, boys and girls so poured in and out all day that give the building a soul of dreams, thoughts and memories. The EAGLE STAfT wishes to present to you this ab- stract collection of people and events which fill our school year. S. is not entirely composed of studies and extracur- ricular activities; there are certain intangible ingredients that can be defined only by a student. The mad scramble to be first in line at lunch, the horror of seeing his books fly everywhere as he walks down the stairs, the hushed reverence during the singing of the Alma Mater - in a student ' s memory of Hokes Bluff these small occurrences are mixed with the more significant events into a maze of happenings we call school life. In one hectic whirl, 1969-70 was gone almost before one realized it. The events are now past history, but they will become memories of H.B.H.S. 81 r I I 82 JL Mr. H.B.H.S.
