CHE L24 If E'-161716295 This year has been excellent for the lady T-Birds Varsity Basketball team. With a re- cord of 16-2, they showed the best perfor- mance of basketball in the 4A Division. Coach Melton felt that they were a strong and solid team. All the girls showed great skills and determination throughout the sea - son. The highlight ofthe season was when they played Boulder in overtime. Val Carroll made a one second shot chinchmg the 44 -43 victory. The M VP's were Rene Doubleday who won a Dr. Pepper MVP award and Val Carroll who won Channel 7 's Prep Ath- lete ofthe Week award. Laura Hinton and Angie Brewer were in the Talon Newspaper Sport Spotlight. The team was lead by Marla Caviness, Kelly Bean, Annette Becker, and Katie Meier. Coach Harris is looking for- ward to a good season next year, as all but four team members will be returning.
