Emphasis on Excellence and Enrichment Week was a week of lectures and programs held in April 1 6-20 of 1 979. The theme focused on the future with the purpose of providing an insight into the years ahead and what we can expect. Paralleling with the Arts Feast of first semester 3-E week featured such speakers as Dr. Walter Mathews, speaking on Future Society ; Jamake Highwater, with Indian Art; and Jim Siegelman and Flo Conway, on Cults and Drastic Personality Changes. Other activities included an Alumni Conference, a Presidents luncheon for Presidents and Deans list Scholars, and an awards banquet. 3-E Week 26 Life

The 16th Annual Smokers Boxing Tournament, spon- sored by the HJC Circle-K Club, was held in the Men ' s Gym during the spring of 1979. Twenty two fighters participated with six taking the boxing titles during a two week period. Winners were: Left to right: Dale Baker, Flyweight champ, Tony Bunk- ley, Lightweight champ; David Williamson, Welterweight champ; Eric Carr, Middleweight champ and Most Outstanding Boxer; Billy Frazier, Light-heavyweight champ; and Junior Simmons, Heavyweight Champ Boxing 1 979 Life 25

Hinds honored Dr. Clyde Muse, president of HJC, with investiture ceremonies in April of 1979 in the college audito- rium. Dr. Muse is the sixth president of the college and the first president to be invested as a junior college president in Mississippi. The program included a processional, invocation, and fea- tured speeches by the platform guests. Ted Kendall, Hinds Board of Trustees president, performed the investiture.
