The Miss Hinds Pageant is sponsored yearly as a prelimi- nary for the Miss Mississippi Pageant. Competition consists of swimsuit, evening gown, talent, and interviews with the judges. Judges for this year ' s pageant included: Mrs. Robert Hederman, Jr.; Mrs. Mart McMullan; Dr. Larry Rigby; Miss Elaine Birdsong; and Mr. Danny Whittington. Emcee was Woodie Assaif. The 16th Annual Smokers Boxing Tournament, spon- sored by the HJC Circle-K Club, was held in the Men ' s Gym during the spring of 1979. Twenty two fighters participated with six taking the boxing titles during a two week period.
