Combined forces have worked to produce three cam- puses offering a variety of settings for study and recrea- tion. Raymond campus, along with Raymond lake, the golf course, and the John Bell Williams airfield break the monotony of dorm life for those who care to take advan- tage of the scenery. The first branch opened its doors in 1970 with its location in Jackson and is now functioning at capasity level. Later in 1974, ground breaking occured in Vicksburg also for a branch which operates jointly with city and county high schools of the area. With ongoing construction a common sight in the past, this year proves to be no exception. Presently, spacial improvements are being made on the McLendon library. Long-range plans for further expansions are in the mak- ing. Opening 5

Raymond, Mississippi — population 2,000. Hinds Jun- ior College is found in this small relatively quiet town. Named after its founder, Colonel Raymond Robinson, in 1828, Raymond was the center of plantation life in this area. Among the historical attractions is the old court- house along with several homes and churches which participate in pilgrimages periodically. A great factor in the development of the town was the Natchez Trace which runs along the outskirts of Ray- mond. Rocky Springs, thirty minutes southwest on the trace, is a secluded place to get away from it all. And if things get dull — remember Jackson and the reservoir are not far away. Opening 7
